Monumental Sports Network announced Thursday plans to stream seven D.C.-area high school basketball tournaments during the 2024-25 season as part of its mission to promote local sports.
The tournaments include boys and girls games at venues across Maryland and Virginia, starting with the Capital Invitational on Dec. 12 at Sidwell Friends School in Bethesda, Maryland. Other tournaments include the Champions Classic at South Lake High School on Dec. 21 in Reston, Virginia; Christy Winters Scott Invitational at The Saint James on Dec. 31 in Springfield, Virginia; Basketball Day in the DMV at DeMatha High School on Jan. 12 in Bethesda; St. James MLK Classic at The Saint James on Jan. 20 in Springfield; and the Maryland Private School State Basketball Tournament on March 5 and 7 at a location to be determined.
The network will broadcast nearly 30 high school basketball games this season.
“Monumental Sports Network is elated to further its commitment to providing top-of-the-line local sports coverage by bringing the excitement of high school basketball to fans across the DMV and beyond,” said Friday Abernethy, general manager for Monumental Sports Network. “Our region has a rich basketball tradition at all levels, and by streaming seven major high school tournaments this season, we are providing an incredible platform for these athletes to showcase their talent on a major stage.”

The games will feature several nationally ranked boys and girls basketball teams from Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, as well as teams from Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and other states.
The broadcasts will be available nationwide through monumentalplus.com or the Monumental+ app on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. Fans can purchase annual memberships at various price levels.
The network will produce and air the games at no cost to schools, with professional broadcast teams providing play-by-play and color commentary.
Last month, Monumental Sports Network announced its 2024-25 college basketball schedule of 67 Washington-area games through partnerships with HBCU GO, George Washington University, University of Richmond, Hampton University, George Mason University and Towson University. The schedule, the network’s largest for a single season, includes 31 women’s games and 38 games featuring historically Black colleges and universities.
