The overwhelming majority of Americans are still vulnerable to catching the coronavirus, a medical expert said Friday.
โThe fundamental biology of this disease hasnโt changed,โ Dr. Ali Khan, dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, said Friday on CNNโs โNew Day.โ โOver 90 percent are still susceptible. This is still a significant disease and 30 percent of Americans are at high risk.โ
Khan said recent spikes in cases seen in states such as Florida and Texas will continue if reopenings arenโt handled more carefully.
โWeโre in the midst of the greatest public health failure in American history, and if weโre going to continue to open up and not open up safely, weโre going to continue to see increased cases,โ he said.
