The late, great United States of America: I am not the last person who’s going to tell you that this country is approaching its last free and fair election. You will certainly hear this lament again, as the doom of the United States as we know it approaches rapidly.

The twice-impeached, one-term, 45th President intends to take power in 2024, and his supporters are preparing for violence and chaos, permitting the installation of a repressive, fascistic government. The appearance of the ruthless takeover will be softened if #45’s Repugnikkkans wins control of the House of Representatives and/or the U.S. Senate in 2022.

There will be endless audits and court challenges to election outcomes everywhere their cohorts don’t win the most votes. They’ve already rigged the system in 19 states, with more than 100 new laws restricting voter access to the polls, with the intent of not letting the next election slip through their fingers. In their way of thinking, the election cannot possibly be free and fair, unless a white person, proclaiming “MAGA-A” — Make America Great Again-Again, i.e., a Trump 2024 acolyte — wins the vote, even for a position as lowly as a city dogcatcher.

Then, just in case any hint of true majority rule takes place, there’s Steve Bannon, a former White House strategist, says he will have 20,000 “shock troops” ready to act to make sure the coup d’état goes off without a hitch. He spoke in late September at the GOP-dominated Capitol Hill Club at the invitation of a new right-wing organization called the Association of Republican Presidential Appointees, according to NBC.

“We control this country,” Bannon ranted at the rally in which he implored the faithful to be prepared to “deconstruct” the American republic the minute that The Donald wins the White House.

If you ask me, Bannon, and the Qanon-posse have collectively lost their ever-loving minds, but the fact is they are dead serious. Think of it this way: the thousands who tried to overthrow the 2020 election on Jan. 6, 2021 in the U.S. Capitol insurrection, were simply conducting a dress rehearsal.

Even so, had one man — then-Vice President Mike Pence — gone along with the lawless scheme to steal the presidency, that philandering, frequently bankrupt, grifter would still be in power today, with luckless protesters, legislators — whomever — powerless to loosen his grip on power.

“We need to get ready now,” Bannon said recently on his “War Room” podcast. “We control the country. We’ve got to start acting like it. And one way we’re going to act like it, we’re not going to have 4,000 [shock troops] ready to go, we’re going to have 20,000 ready to go.”

In an interview with NBC, Bannon said: “If you’re going to take over the administrative state and deconstruct it, then you have to have shock troops prepared to take it over immediately.” And so, the die is cast. You see, “shock troops” is a military term for an advance team of trained soldiers who carry out lightning-fast assaults.

In their Jan. 6 “dry run,” some of the attackers carried tactical equipment, sophisticated communications equipment, maps of the Capitol complex, wearing masks, and carrying zip-ties, in order to detain House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, or any other legislator who opposed the unlawful takeover.

Anyone who insisted that the Electoral College vote declaring Joe Biden the new president was an enemy, and was to be dealt with accordingly. They even brought their own gallows which they erected on the Capitol grounds.

I simply cannot fathom the support for Donald J. Trump. He is a poster illustration of what it means to be an ugly slug, a vile, disgusting-looking worm, disguised as the son of a Ku Kluxer with absolutely no socially redeeming qualities — none! His only apparently quality is his unwavering dedication to the most loathsome tenets of white supremacy. He’s a natural bigot. He does not have to work at it. Hate spews from him like perspiration. In my mind’s eye, The Donald is sickening to behold, and Bannon is right on his heels.

Federal investigators believe Bannon urged Trump to focus his efforts to remain in the White House on the Jan. 6 seditious uprising. Bannon also admitted on his podcast that he told Trump before the insurrection: “You need to kill this [Biden] administration in its crib.” Uh? That language is so patently seditious, that if a Black person had made such a threat to a president-elect, said Black person would already be permanently “under the jail,” with no reprieve in sight.

These enemies of freedom-loving people have said openly what they intend to do. Folks who want to see a free and fair outcome better pay attention, before it’s too late.
