Face it. Donald J. Trump is the most corrupt president ever!

Even the things he’s permitted to do within his powers as president, he does so poorly that long-serving federal workers who see him up-close have sounded the alarm about his open abuses of power. Trump’s a man with multiple ex-wives, several bankrupted businesses to his credit, and dozens of former top White House aides of his fired or convicted of crimes, who has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to silence multiple “adult” entertainers who claim to have had affairs with him while he was married.

He even stooped to giving pardons to two convicted war criminals, and one man who has not yet gone to trial. Even Pentagon officials who never met a war they didn’t like recoiled when The Donald pardoned Maj. Mathew Golsteyn, a former Green Beret accused of killing a suspected bombmaker during a 2010 deployment to Afghanistan.

The second pardon went to First Lt. Clint Lorance, who had been convicted of murder for ordering his soldiers to fire upon three unarmed Afghan men in July 2012, killing two. Lorance has already served more than six years of a 19-year sentence at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Despite the fact that the Chief of Naval Operations reviewed the case and refused to grant clemency, Trump went ahead and ordered a promotion for Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Edward Gallagher, the Navy SEAL convicted of posing with a dead Islamic State captive in Iraq in 2017. Gallagher was acquitted of murdering the captive.

Look for Trump to pardon his crony Roger Stone, who was recently convicted of seven counts of lying to Congress and now possibly faces decades in prison. Stone seemed contemptuous of the court and barely offered any legal defense against the charges, as if he already knew that Trump would reward his loyalty and refuse to snitch, by giving him a pardon.

But Dude already admitted that he believes he can get away with murder. “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters,” he said at a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa back in January 2016. In October 2019, one of Trump’s private attorneys told a federal appeals court panel that Dude could not be investigated or prosecuted if he shot someone on Fifth Avenue, not as long as he remains in office.

The lawyer’s argument in a New York federal appeals court over the release Trump’s taxes to New York state investigators fell flat, the court ordered the tax returns released.

What this kind of thinking arouses in the gluttonous president is yet another reason to never leave office. He has mused that (before even being reelected) he might be good for a third, or even a fourth term (despite a Constitutional prohibition on more than two terms), and that should he not be reelected in 2020, his supporters, members of the military and “Bikers for Trump” would resort to physical violence to support him.

I have suggested on numerous occasions that in case the voting numbers go badly for him at the polls in 2020, he’s got that uprising scenario to give him a “legitimate” reason to suspend the Constitution, refuse to accept the election results and to declare himself to be “President for Life.”

Trump and his right-wing and evangelical supporters seem to hate “the left,” Muslims, LGBTQ persons, Latinx folks, Africans, and Orientals, more than they love America. They always speak of such other Americans with scorn and contempt.

The idea that any kind of governance, or leadership is going on from the Trump White House is ludicrous. Along with the White House, the Republican-controlled Senate is in full, drag-your-feet-and-stall-the-process mode. That’s just fine with some of these radical right-wingers — they are in favor of less government, lower taxes and most benefits of American citizenship belonging only to white folks.

But what I can’t figure out is: why are so many of them so crooked? It makes me think that there must not be any decent, clean-living, honest conservatives. No, they’re all crooked and badly flawed like Trump, and Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and all the other GOP grifters who seem to be drawn to the government by the thought of self-enrichment, rather by the idea of honest, public service.

With Trump, I’m afraid, he’s incapable of honesty, of ever telling the truth.
