With the help of Washington Nationals players, coaches and guests, nearly $400,000 was raised in a single night for the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation Gala.
The money, raised as part of the 12th annual Dream Gala held June 10 at the Marriott Marquis in Northwest, will support initiatives focused on academics, the arts, nutrition and sports for children and teens in the region region.
ESPN anchor Lindsay Czarniak emceed the event, where guests mingled with Nationals players and coaches while enjoying a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner program and a live auction.
Nationals Manager and Honorary Dream Gala chair Dusty Baker announced the recipient of the inaugural “Power of Baseball” award presented by the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy.
Baker, who was accompanied by student-athlete Jayla Hines, presented the award to Ross Eisenman, a mentor at the academy committed to improving the lives of its participants.
To date, the Dream Gala has netted more than $5 million.
