D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office has launched a new $350 million program aimed at helping residents pay their rent and utility bills on time amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The STAY DC program not only provides financial assistance to residents unable to pay rent and/or utilities on time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Bowser’s office.

Through the program, the District will:

• Pay forward rent, up to three months at a time.

• Pay for water, gas, and electricity expenses on their behalf.

• Provide extended housing support for up to 18 months per tenant.

The mayor encourages anyone struggling to pay their rent or utility bills to visit stay.dc.gov or call 833-4-STAYDC from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
