Nick Gordon, ex-fiance of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown, has died.
Gordon, 30, died Wednesday in Florida, nearly four years after the death of Brown.
Gordonโs brother Jack Walker Jr. confirmed the news to People, saying in a statement, โWe are devastated by the loss of my beautiful brother. He leaves a void in the hearts of my family and his friends. Nickโs battle in life was not an easy one. I will be forever grateful that my God afforded a small moment at the very end of Nickโs life, and I was able to hold his hand as he journeyed on.โ
Gordon suffered several heart attacks and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Altamonte Springs Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Another brother, Junior Walker, mourned Gordonโs death on Facebook: โGOD WHY I DID I HAVE TO LOSE MY BROTHER ON NEW YEARโS.โ
Gordon was taken in at age 12 by late singer Whitney Houston and raised alongside Bobbi Kristina Brown, Houstonโs daughter with fellow music star Bobby Brown. After Houstonโs death in 2012, the two announced their engagement, much to the consternation of some family members.
In January 2015, Gordon and a friend found Brown unconscious in a bathtub at her home in an Atlanta suburb. She was placed in a medically induced coma and died six months later at the age of 22 after being removed from life support.
Her death resembled that of her famous mother, who accidentally drowned in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub with various drugs in her system.
Brownโs family filed a wrongful death suit against Gordon, who was found legally responsible for her death and ordered to pay $36 million to her estate in 2016. He never faced any criminal charges in the case.
