Shortly after Bill Cosby was remanded this week to a Pennsylvania state prison, O.J. Simpson warned the disgraced entertainer and philanthropist he should watch his back behind bars because “rapists are frowned upon in prison.”

“I’m sure there will be guys protecting him but they’re gonna have to put him in protective custody … because it takes one nut, ya know?” Simpson, 71, said Wednesday in a brief TMZ interview in Nevada.

“The problem is the nature of the crime,” said Simpson, who spent nine years in prison for kidnapping and armed robbery.

Cosby, 81, was sentenced Tuesday to serve three to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004. He has also been accused by dozens of other women of committing sex crimes against them that date back five decades.

In the meantime, Cosby has been kept alone in a cell at the State Correctional Institution Phoenix, awaiting his final prison assignment.
