Barack Obama has reportedly encouraged former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick to run for president in 2020.

According to Politico, the former president, a close friend of Patrick’s, considers him among a very small group with strong political talents and has “privately encouraged him to think about it, among others.”

However, Deval said it’s far too soon for him to be making plans for 2020. He said that he’s first and foremost a patriot trying to think about how to be helpful because he cares about his country.

Nevertheless, people within Obama’s inner circle believe Patrick would be a good presidential choice, saying he’s the perfect candidate to continue Obama’s legacy.
