Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy has been recognized by Oprah Winfrey’s OWN system and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. as a county leader for voting rights and criminal justice reform.
This recognition was part of the Greek organization’s partnership with the network and the #OWNYourVote initiative.
“I am so excited and proud to be recognized by the Oprah Winfrey Network, and it is an honor to represent both Prince George’s County and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.,” Braveboy said in a statement.
On Sept. 30, Braveboy launched the county’s “Operation Protect the Vote for All” initiative to ensure special populations that include pretrial detainees and inmates currently held at the detention facility have access to their right to vote.
The initiative also targets immigrant communities, seniors and disabled persons.
