Patrick Mara was recently reelected to a third term as chairman of the DC Republican Committee during the group’s biennial organizational meeting.

Mara, a Ward 7 resident, has long been active in the District. In addition to serving as chairman over the past four years, the consultant and small business owner previously was the Republican nominee for an at-large seat on the D.C. Council and is the first Republican elected to serve on the D.C. State Board of Education.

A past Executive Committee member, Mara was the executive director of the committee during the 2016 presidential election cycle. He served as chairman of the D.C. delegation at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.ย ย

Upon his election in a vote held via Zoom, Mara noted, โ€œOver the last four years, we worked extremely hard to rebuild and restructure the D.C. Republican Party. As a result, Washingtonians have had choices in candidates that align with their values and are motivated to see changes from the status quo. As we head into the mayoral cycle, we will continue to capitalize on our momentum and build.

โ€œWe will support our police and the greater need for public safety, defend and argue for parental choice in education, and hold the District Council accountable for their spending and unfair tax levies,” he said. “I look forward to continual engagement with the Republican members of Congress and the Trump administration on District issues.โ€

The committee, which elects its officers at the biennial meeting held in January, also elected Christina Goodlander of Ward 6 as vice chair, Nina O’Neill of Ward 5 as secretary, and Dan Schuberth of Ward 6 as treasurer.

As chairman, Mara is one of D.C.โ€™s three voting members of the Republican National Committee along with Josรฉย Cunningham and Joanne Young.ย Mara will appoint other members to his Executive Committee.ย
