Pepco customers in Maryland and D.C. can request a free tree to plant at their homes as a part of the utility company’s partnership with the Arbor Day Foundationโs Energy-Saving Trees program.
Residential customers can reserve a complimentary tree on a first-come, first-served basis and reap the energy-saving benefits that trees provide. Six hundred trees are available in the program.
Customers can select one from various species. The trees will be delivered at the end of May.
โThe trees planted under this program enhance our communities while providing numerous energy-saving and environmental benefits to our customers,โ said Valencia McClure, Pepco region president. โIn our 13th consecutive year of partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, we feel incredibly grateful for their collaboration to foster a program that aligns with our dedication to addressing environmental challenges faced by our community members. Together, weโll create a path toward a cleaner energy future for all.โ
The company encourages customers to go to arborday.org/Pepco to reserve a tree while supplies last. Customers are also reminded to know what is underground on the property and to call 811 to have utility lines marked below before they begin planting.
