Famed music artist Pharrell Williams has partnered with Amazon and Georgia Tech for a coding competition aiming to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of underserved youths.
The “Your Voice is Power” collaborative is centered on providing youth with the tools needed to launch their own businesses, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Participating students will utilize the EarSketch platform to code a remix of Williams and Jay-Z’s song “Entrepreneur,” an ode to Black business owners.
Submissions will be judged by a panel of industry professionals based on quality of music, code and messaging, according to the competition’s website.
“Teaching kids future-ready skills like coding, especially those kids for whom opportunities like this have not been equally distributed, is how we prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs,” Williams said in a statement, AJC reported.
The five students who win the competition will receive $5,000 scholarships or grants to start their own business, while five instructors will each receive a $1,000 cash prize.
