Legendary soul singer Patti LaBelle is being honored Tuesday in her native Philadelphia with a street bearing her name.
The stretch of Broad Street that will renamed Patti LaBelle Way is located between Locust and Spruce streets.
“I’m so excited that Philadelphia’s Broad Street is being renamed Patti LaBelle Way during the city’s Wawa Welcome America Festival,” LaBelle said in a Facebook post last week. “Please join me for the dedication ceremony on Tuesday, July 2nd at 4 p.m. on the southwest corner of Broad & Spruce Streets. See you there.”
LaBelle, a two-time Grammy award winner and former lead singer of the all-female group LaBelle, is scheduled to speak during the ceremony.
