Minty Fresh Circus

Conceived by Monique Martin, โ€œMinty Fresh Circusโ€ is performed by an all-Black cast, with a majority-Black creative team. This U.S.-based circus show celebrates the healing power of Black music and movement, infused with the joy and resilience of those who traversed the transatlantic slave trade.

Grounded in the Ghanaian concept of Sankofa with an Afro-futuristic vibe, โ€œMinty Fresh Circusโ€ features movement, music and circus arts in a time-bending journey of redemption

Set In DC Film Festival

Sitar Arts Center is excited to present its 2025 Set in D.C. Film Festival, themed โ€œLove in All Its Forms.โ€

Now in its second year, this event is planned and produced by high school students in Sitarโ€™s Emerging Arts Leaders (S.E.A.L.) programโ€”a creative leadership initiative for teens passionate about the arts and their community. The festival offers a platform for young storytellers from across the DMV, ages 10โ€“24, to explore the many dimensions of love through film.

Each piece reflects a unique perspective on what love meansโ€”whether it’s the bond between friends or family, a deep connection to community or nature or love as a form of self-discovery.

Check out the multi-hyphenate artist, who built the House of Ethereal Realness, a femme-based arts collective committed to providing intentional and safe spaces that foster radical joy and love.

This Motherโ€™s Day, show love with a handmade card. 

Attendees can drop by Planet Word to craft a one-of-a-kind card for the mom or mother figure in their life. 

The museum will have supplies, inspiration and a Word Associate on hand to help find the right words to make her smile.
