Preserving Our History: Why It Matters

The Washington Informer and the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) presented a panel discussion on archiving and preservation of photographs and documents. The event was hosted by the Thurgood Marshall Center on Friday, March 27 2015.The panel was moderated by Washington Informer Publisher Denise Rolark Barnes. Panelists included: Ja’Zette Marshburn, archivist for the Afro newspapers; Ida Jones, assistant curator, Moorland Spingarn Research Center; Sharon Farmer, former White House photographer; Freddie Allen, NNPA photographer and reporter; Sam P.K. Collins, WI Bridge managing editor; and Roy Lewis, photographer.
