A recently launched program in Prince Georgeโ€™s County seeks to boost local businesses and encourages residents to support them while staying at home amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a summary of the โ€œBuy Prince Georgeโ€™sโ€ initiative, businesses must create an online presence of their goods and services.

The partnership between the countyโ€™s Economic Development Corp., chamber of commerce and Experience Prince Georgeโ€™s aims to reinforce that buying local keeps money in the community and increases the tax base.

The businesses listed include 767 Boutique in Landover Hills, Second Chance Hair Clinic in Hyattsville, Tyler Group Coaching & Consulting in Fort Washington and Wellspring Manor & Spa in Upper Marlboro.

A portion of a video summarized why residents should support businesses, especially as the majority-Black jurisdiction continues to lead the state in confirmed cases.

โ€œWhether itโ€™s takeout from your local restaurant, shopping for your essential items, [or] purchasing a professional service. Stay home. Stay proud. Shop online and when you do, buy Prince Georgeโ€™s,โ€ the video said.
