The Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation will celebrate Maryland Economic Development Week after County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy announced the county’s participation in the statewide observance running Monday through Friday.

In partnership with the Maryland Economic Development Association, the county will recognize local businesses driving economic growth and creating opportunities for residents.

“Economic Development Week is an opportunity to highlight the collaboration, innovation and resilience that define Prince George’s County’s business ecosystem,” the corporation said in a statement. “From our thriving small businesses to our global industry leaders, each plays a vital role in driving job creation and investment in our communities.”

Since 2011, Maryland Economic Development Week has celebrated the role economic development plays in strengthening communities, creating jobs and improving quality of life. Throughout the week, economic development organizations across the state will highlight innovative programs and collaborative partnerships driving Maryland’s economic vitality.

The corporation will visit select local businesses during the week to present certificates of appreciation recognizing their contributions to the county’s economic growth.

“Economic development is the foundation of a thriving community,” Braveboy said. “When we invest in our businesses and support entrepreneurs who create jobs, we build pathways to prosperity for county residents. Economic Development Week is an opportunity to celebrate the partnerships and programs that continue to transform Prince George’s County into a premier destination for business investment and innovation.”

The Braveboy administration has prioritized strategies to attract and retain businesses, support small and minority-owned enterprises, develop a skilled workforce and invest in infrastructure that supports long-term economic growth, according to the corporation.
