Prince George’s County leaders broke ground on a new health center in Greenbelt, Maryland, on Monday.

The state-of-the-art facility is set to replace the aging Cheverly Health Center in Cheverly, Maryland, representing a critical upgrade in health care service for county residents and moving significantly toward enhancing health care accessibility.

โ€œOur goal is to offer our residents new opportunities to receive care close to home and build the kind of health care infrastructure this community deserves,โ€ said County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. โ€œThis new building is another step forward in our administrationโ€™s strategy to improve the health of our residents, and we want to thank all of our partners who helped make this new health center possible.โ€

The facility is set to be 80,000 square feet and five stories. The county paid $8.9 million and invested $18 million into the new health center.
