The Anacostia Art Gallery welcomed Chief Nana Yaw Mosi Boateng II on Sunday, Sept. 13 for a special visit celebrating art, culture, heritage and community.

During his visit, hosted by Queen Mother Nana Botwe Adobea II (Juanita Britton), Boateng toured the gallery, viewed works on display and engaged with members of the local arts and cultural community. The gathering provided an opportunity to celebrate the connections between African heritage and the rich cultural traditions of Washington, D.C.โ€™s African American community.

The visit also highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and the role of art in preserving history, honoring heritage and connecting generations.

Featuring cultural drumming and dancing by the Katinka Group, the visit was a celebration of culture, community and connection in the heart of Anacostia.
