In ongoing efforts to fight hunger in the communities they serve, Safeway and Safeway Foundation Nourishing Neighbors have donated $455,024 to the Capital Area Food Bank and the Maryland Food Bank.
“We are gratified by the results of our 2021 Kick Hunger campaign, especially since our food banks’ needs have dramatically increased during the last year,” Jim Perkins, Safeway president, said in a statement. “We thank our customers and our partners for their generous support.”
In addition to The Washington Informer, Safeway Foundation’s partners for Kick Hunger include the Washington Football Team, the Baltimore Ravens, WJLA-TV (Channel 7) in Washington, D.C., and WBAL-TV (Channel 11) in Baltimore.
