A film screening for Ava Duvernay’s “My Mic Sounds Nice: The Truth About Women and Hip Hop,” will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, March 13 at THEARC Black Box in southeast D.C.

Directed and produced by DuVernay for BET, the 42-minute film explores the issues and art of female hip-hop artists from the 1980s through 2010.

The event is free but open to the public only on a first-come, first-served basis. A trailer can be viewed on DuVernay’s website.
