The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a warning Tuesday that a second round of the coronavirus pandemic could occur in the fall to early winter, coinciding with the start of the flu season.

The second wave could be worse than the current outbreak and overwhelm the country’s health care system, said CDC Director Robert Redfield.

So far, the current outbreak has killed more than 45,000 people in the U.S. and more than 178,000 worldwide, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
