Several states are prepping partially reopen Friday or sometime next week amid the global coronavirus pandemic, ignoring warnings to remain on lockdown despite recent spikes in coronavirus-related deaths in the country.

Georgia, which has not seen a significant dip in deaths or total cases, will begin reopening Friday, followed later by Tennessee and South Carolina โ€” all in accordance with the three-phase approach outlined last week by President Trump.

The reopenings are also in direct opposition to medical experts who believe itโ€™s too early to take the measures aimed at boosting the economy.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, an infectious disease expert and member of Trumpโ€™s coronavirus task force, warned that lifting restrictions too early endangers lives and tightens the demand for medical supplies, already in critically short supply.
