What are your thoughts on the proposed Sphere venue coming to National Harbor?

Sherman Hardy, Clinton, Maryland
โ€œIโ€™m not opposed to new entertainment or development; I welcome it. But the real question isnโ€™t whether a project looks impressiveโ€”itโ€™s whether it belongs there, complements what already exists, fits the market and long-term plan, and delivers real value beyond the initial excitement.โ€

David Grogan, Bowie, Maryland
โ€œIโ€™m not sold and Iโ€™m not opposed. Iโ€™m paying attention. The Sphere announcement sounds exciting, but excitement doesnโ€™t replace transparency. Where did this project originate? Why now during election season? And why are basic questions being dodged? Prince Georgeโ€™s County has heard โ€˜jobsโ€™ and โ€˜economic impactโ€™ before and residents are still waiting on results.โ€ย

Juwan Blocker, Bryanโ€™s Road, Maryland
โ€œI am extremely thrilled to hear that the Sphere will be breaking ground at the MGM National Harbor. I think that the county as a whole, over the last year and a half, has taken an economic hit with Six Flags no longer operating. And for us to usher in the Sphere at a time where technology continues to advance, I think this is a major win for the county economically and also for the job creation that will come from this project for residents.โ€

Michelle Knox, Laurel, Maryland
โ€œI agree that power costs and economic equity are central concerns for Maryland’s new Sphere. The project holds promise for Prince George’s County, but its energy demand is significant and highlights a key infrastructure challenge for our region.โ€

Sia Finoh, Lanham, Maryland
โ€œWhile I strongly desire to see economic growth in Prince George’s County, it is crucial to consider the potential impact on the existing community. The development sphere is projected to incur costs exceeding $1 billion annually, primarily due to the risk of displacing long-term residents, increasing living expenses, and straining already overburdened infrastructure.โ€
