EDITORIAL: D.C. Prepares for its Annual Party – Emancipation Day – April 16

by WI Editorial Staff April 13, 2022April 13, 2022

After several years of being postponed due to the pandemic, D.C. residents can finally celebrate, live and in person, the District’s most important day of the year – Emancipation Day.

Historian C.R. Gibbs lectures students about the many plantations located in and around Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia and how life was for African Americans during the time of Emancipation until the present day at Emancipation Day Freedom School held at THEARC in southeast D.C. on April 16.
