Zwe Spacetime won first place at The Washington Informer’s 43rd annual Citywide Spelling Bee, representing the District at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and is preparing to make history as his older sister, Zaila Avant-garde, did in 2021 as the first-ever African-American spelling bee champion.
