The Recycling Refund and Litter Reduction Amendment Act of 2025, or “bottle bill”, has moved to the D.C. Council’s Committee on Transportation and the Environment, where a hearing is yet to be scheduled, and would levy a 10-cent fee on beverages that goes back into consumers’ pockets each time they drop off empty bottles at stores and redemption centers.
