Washington Commanders All-Pro wide receiver Terry McLaurin has officially escalated his contract standoff to the highest level yet.ย

According to multiple reports, the standout wide receiver has formally requested a trade from the Commanders as he enters the final year of his current deal and continues to seek long-term extension.ย

McLaurin, who initially reported to camp as a โ€œhold-in,โ€ voiced frustration over stalled negotiations, saying he wants to remain in Washington but also wants to feel valued.

โ€œEverything that has transpired up until this point has been frustrating,โ€ McLaurin told reporters. โ€œI want to continue my career [in Washington]. Iโ€™ve created my life here. My wife and I bought our first home here so this has been somewhere where Iโ€™ve always wanted to be.โ€

While Commanders general manager Adam Peters seems to be taking a strategic cap-cautious approach to McLaurinโ€™s contract negotiations, the star wideout used his time at camp to prioritize fans, as opposed to practice, primarily signing autographs and engaging with his longtime supporters.ย

โ€œI never lost sight of the way they [fans] supported me and the way that I pour into them and the way they poured into me,โ€ McLaurin said. โ€œSo at the end of the day itโ€™s business but it has nothing to do with them. And any chance I can come out here โ€ฆ show them my support and how much I love them, Iโ€™m gonna always do that.โ€ย
