THE RELIGION CORNER: Careful, Your Thoughts May Come To Life!

It is my mission in life to share “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill with readers across America. My life was changed the day I read that book. The Holy Bible now makes more sense to me because of this read. Principles outlined in “Think and Grow Rich” were researched for 20 years by Hill. He teaches how our thoughts control our actions and, thus, can make or break us. Here is how it all began.

When we look back over our lives, if we look very carefully, we will find out just how words come to life! In the scriptures, according to the book of Genesis, it says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And each verse, it says, “God said…” over and over again, “God said…” until the end of the sixth day. Then for the seventh day, “God said man shall rest!”

In yet another scripture, it says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue!” We often repeat that scripture, but do we really have a clue what that scripture is really saying? Do you realize just how important it is for us to be careful to always speak in a positive manner. How many times have we all said, “No problem!” Well, in my communications class, my former professor said, “When you say no problem, there is a problem, otherwise you should not have used the word problem.”

Personally, I am of the opinion that we say that phrase routinely, as a way of saying that it is really fine and that you are truly willing to do something for someone else, regardless to the cost. This column will simply serve as your reminder to use caution when speaking over your life, and the lives of your loved ones!

When Andrew Carnegie asked Hill to research for 20 years, he said, “Your goal will be the publication of a ‘success type’ of book, similar to an encyclopedia in the category of laws of success. This book will share the laws and every step of how to take a thought and make it into a success. You will include all of the spiritual components of faith that is required. I have no doubts you will see that each person had unwavering faith in order to accomplish their idea.”

Hill only had 60 seconds to accept, and he said yes. More than 100 years later, incredibly, over 20 million people have learned the principles of success because of Hill’s decision, and all of his principles are based on Christianity. In fact, he wrote an entire chapter on faith. Hill teaches us how to put our faith to work. Scripture teaches us that “faith without works is dead.”

Hill showed how every person can operate based on the measure of faith given. Scripture says, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (Romans 12:3)”

In one of my favorite Hill video seminars, I heard him say how he spent three hours each morning and three hours each night, reading the bible, doing his meditation, and visualizing the goals and dreams he wanted to accomplish for that day. Pay close attention to what his research has taught millions. Here, I share enough of his research to inspire you to want to learn more about the process and to go into action too.

It begins with your state of mind — you must have a positive mental attitude! There are so many Christians out there who think the worst first — it is a trick of Satan! Think on those things that are good, and are of good report.
