This past week, I’ve awakened hearing music in the air … yes indeed! It is R. Kelly’s song, “I Believe I Can Fly.” Obviously, there is a message in that song for me, and there is one in there for someone out there reading this column.

I don’t know who you are, but let us revisit the lyrics to this song: “I used to think that I could not go on/And life was nothing but an awful song/But now I know the meaning of true love/I’m leaning on the everlasting arms … See I was on the verge of breaking down/Sometimes silence can seem so loud/There are miracles in life I must achieve; But first I know it starts inside of me/Oh, if I can see it, then I can do it/If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it/I believe I can fly/I believe I can touch the sky/I think about it every night and day/Spread my wings and fly away/I believe I can soar/I see me running through that open door/I believe I can fly, I believe I can fly, I believe I can fly.”

What an inspirational song!

When we keep positive thoughts like this in mind, nothing can harm us! With bad news all around us, I had to wonder, “why, Lord, am I hearing this ‘happy’ song?” While at work, during my lunch break, I went outside to enjoy the low humidity and beautiful, clear day; however, the entire time I was outside, I kept hearing that song, like music in the air. I had to find the song on YouTube.

As I played it over and over again, singing the words aloud, there was a young man passing by. He could hear me sing, but I really didn’t care, because the words were so powerful, it might have been just what he needed.

We must give out positive energy everywhere we go; you be that positive force from God, share His spirit with others throughout the world. When we all concentrate on goodness and mercy, things will begin to change in our land.

Remember the scripture that tells us, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

What does the scripture mean when it says “heal our land”? It will heal your family and everything and everybody involved, it will heal the United States of America and the entire world. That scripture reminds us how we must humble ourselves and pray, seek the face of the Savior and turn from our wicked ways. Then it says the Father will hear from heaven and will forgive our sin and will heal our land! This scripture is true for every one of us, not for a select few.

Believe in God, and believe in yourself; then you will also be able to achieve those miracles in life. You must know your dream starts inside of you first, given to you by God the Father. It is He who puts that dream inside of you — none other!

He sent us here to do a job for Him. Are you getting that job done? Or are you chasing behind someone else’s dream, trying to be discovered through what they have going on?

No, live your own life! Do what YOU were sent here to do. Tell yourself over and over again, “I believe I can fly!”
