The world is experiencing a plague as talked about in many Scriptures. According to Google, the word plague is mentioned 68 times throughout the Bible. Though it is a bit frightening, my spirit feels calm once I remind myself that I am indeed a child of the King.
My earthly father went home to be with the Lord in July 2010. He may be gone, but because he was a frequent Revelations preacher who often taught about end times, his sermons came up in my spirit recently.
At this very moment, schools are closed in many states, many companies have shut down for a few weeks, large congregations are worshipping by telephone conference calls, and our country is in a state of emergency with all major events canceled. There certainly is something serious going on in the world, and especially right here at home. This is different from any experience I have witnessed during any other time in my 68 years.
The president of the United States has not called for a country-wide lockdown as of this moment. Yet we know that this is a possibility, just as they’ve done in Italy, Spain and other countries.
The Holy Bible does predict that the world would indeed experience such plagues. The coronavirus is not the first such plague, and it will not be the last. Let’s take a look at what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows.
According to the CDC website, the 1918 strain of influenza known as Spanish flu caused a global pandemic. It spread around the world quickly, killing young, old, sick and otherwise healthy people. Of those who became infected, at least 10% died.
The website further stated that estimates vary on the exact number of deaths caused by the disease, but it is thought to have infected a third of the world’s population and killed at least 50 million people, making it the deadliest pandemic in modern history.
The History Channel’s website talks about six worldwide plagues that killed millions of people. It would take up too many words to share with you here. When you take the time to look back over the past 10,000 years, you will find many pandemics, bacteria and diseases that have killed millions of people.
The Book of Matthew predicted we would have wars on large scales and talks about famine. Luke 21:1-11 speaks of great earthquakes and epidemics of “terrible diseases.”
In closing, let us take a look at the book of Revelation 15:1-2 (KJV), which says, “And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up with the wrath of God. And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.”
We are living in critical times, when we must believe that we are covered because we are children of God. He says in Psalm 91:10, “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” Amen!
