Tony Dungy Wouldn’t Draft Jameis Winston


(USA Today) – Count Tony Dungy among those disembarking from the Jameis Winston bandwagon following the Florida State quarterback’s most recent disciplinary infraction. During an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, the Super Bowl winning coach and current NBC analyst was asked whether he’d use a first-round pick on Winston:
As of now, I wouldn’t. I’d have to do a lot of research and go in and talk to him. But you don’t want the face of your franchise and the guy you’re going to take in the top-five picks to have all those off-field issues. You just don’t.
Dungy isn’t sure he’d use a lower pick on Winston either, making the point that the quarterback will still be the face of a franchise no matter where he gets selected, a la Johnny Manziel. READ MORE
