President Donald Trump formally launched his 2020 reelection campaign Tuesday evening in front of a fired-up crowd in Florida, an important battleground state for the president.

Trump’s speech at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando drew a capacity crowd of 20,000 supporters which reportedly seemed larger than the one that turned out in 2012 in Columbus, Ohio, for former President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign launch.

In typical Trump fashion, the president mocked Democrats and slammed the media and “fake news” reports while making a torrent of questionable statements and exaggerations about the influence of his presidency.

While Florida is likely a must-win state for Trump in his bid for a second term, a Quinnipiac University poll on Tuesday showed him trailing Democratic front-runner Joe Biden by 9 percentage points in the state.
