President Donald Trump formally launched his 2020 reelection campaign Tuesday evening in front of a fired-up crowd in Florida, an important battleground state for the president.

Trumpโ€™s speech at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando drew a capacity crowd of 20,000 supporters which reportedly seemed larger than the one that turned out in 2012 in Columbus, Ohio, for former President Barack Obamaโ€™s reelection campaign launch.

In typical Trump fashion, the president mocked Democrats and slammed the media and โ€œfake newsโ€ reports while making a torrent of questionable statements and exaggerations about the influence of his presidency.

While Florida is likely a must-win state for Trump in his bid for a second term, a Quinnipiac University poll on Tuesday showed him trailing Democratic front-runner Joe Biden by 9 percentage points in the state.
