President Trump to Twitter on Monday morning to boast of his handling of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as Election Day approaches and his administration ratchets up the pressure on drugmakers and the Food and Drug Administration to produce a vaccine before then.
“Starting to get VERY high marks in our handling of the Coronavirus (China Virus), especially when compared to other countries and areas of the world,” the president tweeted. “Now the Vaccines (Plus) are coming, and fast!”
Trump didn’t cite a source for his claims of approval, but both the public and medical professionals are wary of a rushed vaccine. A recent USA Today/Suffolk poll found that two-thirds of U.S. voters wouldn’t want a coronavirus vaccine as soon as it becomes available, with one in four saying they wouldn’t want it at all.
