Trump Orders Flags Lowered at Half Staff in Honor of John Lewis

As a show of respect for the memory of Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) who passed away Friday at age 80 after a battle with pancreatic cancer, President Donald Trump ordered flags on all federal buildings to be flown Saturday at half-staff. “
Despite Lewis’ 2017 boycott of Trump’s inauguration in 2017, coupled with his strident relationship with the president, the order instructed military bases, naval ships, embassies, and federal offices around the world to lower their flags for the remainder of the day.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted earlier Saturday that Lewis “leaves an enduring legacy that will never be forgotten. We hold his family in our prayers.”
