Trump Orders Flags to Half-Staff for COVID-19 Victims

President Trump announced Thursday that flags at federal buildings and national monuments will be lowered to half-staff In honor of the Americans who have died from the coronavirus.
“I will be lowering the flags on all Federal Buildings and National Monuments to half-staff over the next three days in memory of the Americans we have lost to the CoronaVirus,” the president tweeted. “On Monday, the flags will be at half-staff in honor of the men and women in our Military who have made the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Nation.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) wrote a letter earlier Thursday to Trump requesting that he lower the flags when the number of U.S. deaths hit 100,000.
The death toll from COVID-19 surpassed 95,000 on Friday, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.
