TSA Screens 1M Travelers for 1st Time Since Pandemic Began

The Transportation Safety Administration said it screened more than one million travelers Sunday, the first time that has occurred since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic this spring crippled the travel industry.

TSA said it screened 1,031,505 travelers Sunday, about 40 percent of the 2.6 million the agency handled the same day last year, CNN reported.

More than 2,000 agency employees, including airport screening officers, have contracted the coronavirus, eight of whom have died, CNN reported.

The U.S. currently has roughly 8.2 million coronavirus cases, including 220,000 deaths, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.
