Tyler Perry said Monday he plans to retire the โ€œMadeaโ€ film franchise next year, giving fans a chance to say goodbye to the boisterous elderly woman heโ€™s played for nearly two decades with next Marchโ€™s โ€œA Madea Family Funeral.โ€

โ€œThis is it,โ€ the actor and filmmaker told Bevy Smith on her Sirius XM radio show โ€œBevelations.โ€ โ€œItโ€™s time for me to kill that old bโ€”-. Iโ€™m tired. Weโ€™re gonna say goodbye in โ€™19. I just donโ€™t want to be her age playing her.โ€

Perry, 49, said heโ€™ll also be taking the character on a โ€œfarewellโ€ stage tour along with some of the original characters and actors from the eight blockbuster โ€œMadeaโ€ films.
