Tyler Perry said Monday he plans to retire the โMadeaโ film franchise next year, giving fans a chance to say goodbye to the boisterous elderly woman heโs played for nearly two decades with next Marchโs โA Madea Family Funeral.โ
โThis is it,โ the actor and filmmaker told Bevy Smith on her Sirius XM radio show โBevelations.โ โItโs time for me to kill that old bโ-. Iโm tired. Weโre gonna say goodbye in โ19. I just donโt want to be her age playing her.โ
Perry, 49, said heโll also be taking the character on a โfarewellโ stage tour along with some of the original characters and actors from the eight blockbuster โMadeaโ films.
