The White House coronavirus response coordinator said Thursday the possibility exists for the country to get COVID-19 case counts low enough for children to return to school.

Dr. Deborah Birx, appearing on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” said there are school districts where the coronavirus test positivity rate in the community is under five percent.

“What we want is the whole country to be able to go back to school and all those case counts down to what we call ‘green states,’” she said, CNN reported.

Birx said that will happen by “doing what the president has asked,” including wearing masks, social distancing, and avoiding gatherings where social distancing isn’t possible.
