Almost half of all Americans live in communities with unhealthy ozone and particle pollution levels. People of color are more than twice as likely to live in these areas, according to the American Lung Association’s 2026 State of the Air report.
The Washington Informer and Word In Black join forces to host a 1-1 discussion with Almeta Cooper of Moms Clean Air Force about how we can all help stop pollution and improve the air quality in Black communities.
The Informer also dives into its ongoing solutions journalism series, “Clearing the Air,” focused on Washington, D.C.’s air quality, which received an “F” rating in 2025.
