Officers from the 7th District of the Metropolitan Police Department found the time Monday night to distribute toys to children living in the Trinity Shelter in Southeast as the Christmas holiday approaches.

The police partnered with the Anacostia Coordinating Council for the event.

Stuart Anderson, the council’s outreach coordinator, said the event was important not only because the children were greatly appreciative of the gifts, but that it also showed them the police in a different light.
