The Virginia Department of Health has added an online dashboard to track coronavirus cases for all children 17 and younger.

The dashboard will report virus-related cases, hospitalizations and deaths of children, as well as data by week, pediatric age group and region, the health department said in a statement Monday.

The dashboard, which will be updated weekly on Fridays, was launched in response to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases among children since the end of the summer. Since March 2020, the health department reported 127,997 coronavirus cases among children ages 0-17, 380 hospitalizations and nine deaths.

Though children younger than 12 are not yet eligible for a coronavirus vaccine, the department recommends that everyone 12 and older get vaccinated.
