The Virginia Department of Health on Tuesday reported the state’s second COVID-19-related death among 10-19-year-olds in the past three weeks.
The latest death — a 19-year-old in the Richmond City Health District — was the ninth reported in that age group since the outset of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020, WJLA-TV (Channel 7) reported.
More than 107,000 coronavirus cases have been reported in the 10-19 age group throughout the pandemic, according to state health department data.
Since the pandemic began, Virginia has had 14 virus-related deaths in those under the age of 20, WJLA reported.
