Virginia has reached a record low in the number of new coronavirus cases.

The state reported Tuesday just 59 new cases in the state, according to Richmondโ€™s NBC News affiliate. Additionally, the positivity rate is now 2.7%, well below the recommended 5%.

Gov. Ralph Northam issued an executive order last week lifting all social distancing and capacity restrictions, though a mask mandate will remain for certain situations.

As of Wednesday, approximately 3.8 million Virginians, or 44.6% of the stateโ€™s population, have been fully vaccinated, according to the state health department.
