Virginia reported just 68 new coronavirus cases Monday, as the state’s numbers of cases and virus-related deaths continue to fall as vaccinations increase.
The daily case total fell from 73 the previous day, according to state health department data. Virginia also recorded 11 virus-related deaths, down from 14 on Sunday.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate stands at 2.9%, well below the accepted rate of 5%.
As of Monday, Virginia has recorded 677,812 infections and 11,318 related deaths since the start of the pandemic last year, according to the health department.
So far, roughly 57% of the state population has received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, with more than 4 million residents now fully vaccinated.
