Residents at D.C.’s Lightview Cooperative took part in the recent celebration of the completion of the solar system installation project at their apartment complex.

The project, led by residents, was funded by the DOEE’s 2018 Solar for All Innovation and Expansion Grant. The installation was co-developed by PEER Consulting and New Columbia Solar.

Participants included: Department of Energy & Environment Director Tommy Wells; Meta James, Manager, Lightview Cooperative; New Columbia Solar CEO Mike Healy; Ward 4 Council member Brandon T. Todd; Ronnie Dampier with Mayor Bowser’s Office of Infrastructure; Kathy Arnold, PEER Consultant and Lightview Manager; New Columbia Solar President Nick Giannottii; and PEER Consulting Founder Dr. Lilia Abron.

The building remains one of the District’s last existing low-income cooperatives built during the Barry Administration with residents being mostly senior citizens.
