Washington Monument Reopens with New Safety, Cleaning Measures

The Washington Monument, closed six months ago amid the coronavirus pandemic, reopened Thursday with new safety measures and cleaning procedures.
The new procedures include a reduced elevator capacity of eight people at a time practicing social distancing, a face mask requirement and midday closures for cleaning, the National Park Service said.
Tickets for the Washington Monument will be available online only from recreation.gov. Each ticket, which costs $1.50, is good for groups of up to four people.
The park service says visitors can reserve tickets one day prior to arriving at the monument, which will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
