The Washington Nationals organization is gearing up for its eighth annual “Read Like a Champion” program, which encourages students to read during the summer.

The program aims to combat the “summer slide” — students’ loss of knowledge and skills during the summer break — and has now expanded to include municipal library systems in D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

The Nationals organization said it will support the efforts of D.C.’s library partners through nationals.com/SummerReading, which will host information on summer reading programs offered by the Nationals’ library partners.
