Robert Cadrette, a master corporal in the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, died from coronavirus-related complications Saturday. He was 51.

Cadrette worked for the sheriff’s office for 22 years, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. He was assigned to the Special Services Division, Property Management Section of the sheriff’s office.

A U.S. Army active and reserves veteran, Cadrette joined the sheriff’s office in January 1998. He is survived by a wife and 3-year-old daughter.

“Rob battled this virus for weeks, and it was heartbreaking to see his condition diminish as he fought so hard to survive,” said Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry.

As of Monday, Charles County has 4,719 coronavirus cases and 105 related deaths, according to state health department statistics.
